Digital refractometers with Peltier temperature control- DR6200-T
Digital refractometers without internal temperature control - DR6200
High-Precisions Digital Refractometers Series
Maximum efficiency with automation
The DR6000 models are especially suited for highly accurate measurements of products from the sugar industry. Instead of temperature control, the temperature compensation according to ICUMSA can be used. The digital refractometer models DR6000 without internal Peltier temperature control are especially suited for highly accurate measurements of products from the sugar industry. Instead of the temperature control, you can use the temperature compensation according to ICUMSA. There are four model variants available for the different requirements on accuracy, resolution and measuring range, whereby the same operation and functionality can be accessed.
- Measuring all sugar containing samples
- Built-in thermostat connections for temperature control with external circulating thermostat
- Preinstalled and freely definable scales with conversions bases on tables or formulas
- Chemical-resistant materials such as measurement prism made of sapphire, measuring tray made of stainless steel
- Intuitive operation via state-of-the-art touch-screen display
- Complete data recording and backup including audit trail
- Flexible data export
- Compliance with global standards and norms
How does it work?
The measurement of refractive index, also called the index of refraction, is a straightforward process when using modern instruments. Nevertheless the generation of accurate and reproducible results demands that appropriate techniques are used and laboratory technicians are adequately trained. One major advantage of a modern digital refractometer is that sample preparation is no longer necessary.
Liquid samples can simply be placed on the measuring prism and the analysis begun. Good practice requires that the calibration of the instrument is regularly checked, and this can be done by simply measuring the refractive index of a sample of distilled water. One factor that must be considered is temperature: the refractive index of a substance varies with temperature, and so this must be carefully controlled. A digital refractometer will either incorporate a Peltier temperature control element or, in the case of less advanced instruments, a water bath controlled by thermostat.
