Overview
The MBI Mini Plate Spinner is the first centrifuge designed specifically for quick and easy centrifugation of samples in PCR plates or microplates. Unlike conventional microplate centrifuges that occupy large benchtop footprints, the Mini Plate Spinner features a unique compact design measuring just 6 × 6 inches.
Two standard microplates are loaded vertically through a slot in the top of the unit. Surface tension keeps samples in place within sealed plates, eliminating any risk of spillage during loading or spinning. Upon closing the lid, the rotor accelerates plates to 2,500 rpm for rapid droplet removal.
For temperature-sensitive workflows, the unit may be operated inside a cold room (4–35°C ambient range), making it ideal for pre-PCR spin-downs, post-thermocycling condensation removal, and plate normalization.
