The Labcycler 48s is a compact PCR thermal cycler designed for laboratories requiring rapid temperature changes, reliable block uniformity, and straightforward operation in a lower-throughput format. Its gold-coated silver block contains 48 wells for 0.2 ml tubes arranged in a 6 × 8 array, equivalent to half of a standard 96-well block.

The high thermal conductivity of silver supports heating and cooling rates up to 5.0 °C/s during real operation. Single tubes and strips can be used, providing flexibility for routine PCR, DNA sequencing, assay development, and molecular biology workflows.
