A safe, high-sensitivity alternative to ethidium bromide (EtBr) for DNA and RNA visualization in agarose gel electrophoresis. Non-genotoxic formulation ensures laboratory safety without compromising detection sensitivity.
Key Characteristics
High-sensitivity detection superior to traditional EtBr staining
Significantly reduced genotoxicity for enhanced user safety
Dual excitation capability: UV transilluminator (standard around 280nm ) or visible light (420–510 nm)
Emission at 520–540 nm (optimal detection with 530 or 535 nm filter)
Compatible with both precasting and post-staining protocols
Stable long-term storage at room temperature or 4°C
Visualization of DNA and RNA bands during agarose gel electrophoresis
DNA fragment isolation for subcloning applications (minimal mutation risk)
Routine PCR product analysis and verification
Southern/Northern blot visualization protocols
Staining Protocols
Precasting Method: Add MBI RedSafe directly to agarose gel solution during preparation (standard protocol). Post-Staining Method: Dilute to 1× concentration in running buffer (Example: Add 2μL of MBI RedSafe (10,000× concentrate) to 20mL of agarose solution); incubate gel for 10 minutes. Post-staining provides uniform background and enhanced small fragment detection.
Note: During extended electrophoresis runs, MBI RedSafe migrates toward the positive electrode while DNA moves toward the negative electrode, resulting in gradient background staining characteristic of intercalating dyes.
